Some initiates were talking about N'rolav at the gathering in the Dundee Inn today, and I was reminded of my first (official) trip to N'rolav and what I saw there. (In case any of you were wondering, Islander is alive and well, though currently travelling far from Valorn, and Balthazar is, as usual, a liar.)
Along a trodden path I made my way, through N'rolav, where the laws of darkness reign, where shadows over light hold deadly sway and forests grow fear-filled and full of bane. And in that place which all but gods disdain, beside the lair of Polpus, roguish knave, I saw a sight that tore my heart in twain: I saw the Tomb of Islander the brave.
In Valorn, in the blessed light of day which Ben and Cory by their word ordain, there Islander is master of the fray, the Demon Slayer filled with might and main. But in the night of N'rolav's fear and pain, there Balthazar is lord, and on a grave there stands a stone well carved with letters plain: I saw the Tomb of Islander the brave.
What is this land of N'rolav? Sages say it is our future, and we fight in vain, but others claim it is a mocking play of Balthazar, to make our courage wane. I, knowing not, will steadfast still remain, but of the mighty gods one boon I crave: O gods, this act of Balthazar restrain! I saw the Tomb of Islander the brave.
Are these the bones of Valorn that remain, which all our greatest heroes could not save? In all of N'rolav this the darkest stain: I saw the Tomb of Islander the brave.
